ABOUT
The 2nd edition of the Regent’s Short Film Festival will run on Friday, March 24th 2026, at Regent’s University London, nestled in the heart of London, in Regent’s Park. Presented in the historic, original Bedford College building, young and emerging filmmakers and creatives from the UK and across the world will meet to present the best of their work. The program will include screenings, a panel of guest speakers, workshops, and provide an opportunity to network. You can submit to a variety of genres such as drama, comedy, musical/music videos, thriller/horror, fantasy, screenplay, and other applicable categories. Submission is open to students and filmmakers aged sixteen and above.
Selected works will be screened in competition and be eligible for our awards mentioned below.
RSFF is being organized and put on by a group of hardworking and passionate students across multiple disciplines at Regent’s University London, and are excited to support and present up-and-coming young filmmakers across the globe.We love and support independent films. Art and great films deserve to be made and shown, despite budget, age, connections, or experience. Regent’s short film festival invites anyone to submit above 16+ without any additional barriers or restrictions to submissions.

Rules & Terms
Film Submission Guidelines:

Short films should be approximately 5-10 minutes, 3 minutes is the minimum we are able to accept.

Screenplays should be 5-10 minutes long.

Every filmmaker and their crew need to be above the age of sixteen in order to be eligible for competition.
General Guidelines:

All films in languages other than English must have English subtitles.

There is no premiere requirement for this festival. We will accept submissions of films that have been screened at other festivals and events.
If your work is selected:

This festival does not provide licensing or screening fees.

All non-English films must have English subtitles in the proper format (.srt) to ensure all content is accessible.

We do not cover any licensing or screening fees for the selected projects, as all films are in competition and have been submitted to us.

Special Guest Speakers
MIKE
PEEL

Michael Peel is a practice-based lecturer and award-winning filmmaker, whose work has been screened at numerous international film festivals. His most recent documentary ‘Gervase’ won best Documentary Feature Film & Best Editing in a Documentary at the Documentary Screen Awards in 2020. In 2018 he was nominated for the Best Cinematography Award at the 2018 Southampton International Film Festival. He is the co-founder of an independent London-based production company, BottleRocket Film, that produces a variety of dramas, corporates and documentaries. He has worked for BBC News, BBC Manchester, BBC South and a number of other production companies, including marketing campaigns for the RSPH (Royal Society for Public Heath) and credits for Netflix.
As a Director (Content) Liberal Arts and Associate Professor, he lectures across a variety of postgraduate, undergraduate and foundation. His teaching covers the areas of film production, cinematography, multi-camera TV studio production, postproduction, colour grading and location-based filming.
He is a Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy and an External Examiner for both the University of Wolverhampton & the University of Liverpool. He previously taught at The Arts University Bournemouth.
Originally from Michigan, Luis moved to Los Angeles where he attended New York Film Academy and worked across the film industry.
In London, he retrained in screenwriting and was awarded the Robert McKee Screenwriting Scholarship. While at university, his short film script, Special Delivery, was commissioned by 20thDigital Studios and directed by John McPhail, premiering on HULU. He was also associate producer on Eye Exam, directed by Aislinn Clarke, for the same studio. He then joined BAFTA-nominated producer Jack Tarling at Shudder Films as an associate producer on the Oscar short-listed, BAFTA winning, KNEECAP, starring the eponymous rappers and Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender. Following on from that he was Development Assistant on Rory Kinnear starring LEARNING TO BREATHE UNDERWATER and BFI/BBC funded DAUGHTER OF EDEN directed by Fateme Ahmadi.
Luis continues to work on personal projects. His debut as writer-director, the sci-fi/drama, MEMORY MULE, and has follow-ups, THE PRESENT and CALL MOM, currently in production.
